imagineCALGARY Awards Nominations Now Being Accepted
It’s official – the nomination packages are now available for the second annual imagineCALGARY Awards. Designed to recognize outstanding achievements within the sustainability community, the imagineCALGARY Awards offer an important opportunity to recognize good work.
Awards will be made in two categories that recognize both imagineCALGARY Partners and those organizations that have not yet signed on with imagineCALGARY.
The Partner in Action Award has been developed to recognize an active imagineCALGARY Partner that has demonstrated excellence, innovation, involvement and leadership in the adoption and activation of practices that support the long-term sustainability of the city of Calgary within the target scope of The imagineCALGARY Plan. Last year’s winner, Vibrant Communities Calgary, was recognized for their work to promote Living Wage policies across the world, their support of affordable transportation options (the Fair Fares initiative), and a civic engagement program to increase voter turnout.
The second award, The imagineCALGARY Leadership in Sustainability Award, is presented to an organization or business that is not an imagineCALGARY Partner organization yet, but which demonstrates excellence, innovation, involvement and leadership in the adoption and incorporation of practices that support the long-term sustainability of the city of Calgary within the target scope of The imagineCALGARY Plan. The 2008 winner, DIRTT (Doing It Right This Time) went on to become an imagineCALGARY Partner, but was initially recognized for their outstanding leadership in environmental and sustainability issues. DIRTT produces movable, pre-fabricated walls in Calgary with a keen focus on sustainability.
“We were honored to receive an award that recognizes DIRTT’s dedication to providing solutions and services that are innately sustainable,” says Nicole Davis from DIRTT. “The imagineCALGARY award is a powerful way for us to showcase our continued success across North America, and it’s all happening right here, in Calgary’s backyard.”
The deadline for nominations for the 2009 imagineCALGARY Awards is Friday, September 18th at 4 p.m. For more information, you can download a full nomination package here.
