Established in 1982, the Calgary Food Bank is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to gathering and distributing quality emergency food to those in need. The majority of people we assist are working-poor Calgarians struggling to make ends meet. The Calgary Food Bank is not a government or United Way agency. We rely solely on the generous support of our community.
Because of countless thoughtful donations:
- 132,469 people were able to access emergency food during 2014
- The Calgary Food Bank could provide food to 110 local agencies such as the Drop-In Centre through the JP Morgan Food Link program
- 486,080 meals and snacks were provided in one month to our agency partners
- The Calgary Food Bank was able to send food to 63 food banks across Canada during emergencies and times of crisis
