Calgary Freestyle Gardening is a volunteer initiative with the goal to provide Calgary with an alternative to mainstream food acquisition. We are trying to do this by planting vegetable and fruit gardens in peoples' donated garden plots, thereby using up otherwise neglected space to grow food. Out of this, we allow passer-bys to pick what they like from the gardens. Anything left over at harvest time is then split, 10% to the donor, should they choose, and 90% of the remaining crop to the Calgary Food Bank.
