Community Kitchen Program of Calgary "Taking the Bite Out Hunger", runs 9 programs under its umbrella.
Good Food Box - The Good Food Box program gives people in Calgary a way to purchase fresh produce at a very low cost. (Program runs September to June)
Calgary's Cooking Program - The Calgary's Cooking Program gives groups of Calgarians the opportunity to plan and cook a collection of budget friendly and nutritious meals. Community Kitchens purchases the food at wholesale prices and assists with the planning, delivery of food and the cook. Participants usually come away with 14 days of meals at a low cost to them. (Program runs September to June)
Tummy Tamers - Tummy Tamers is a summer program that runs at preselected site in conjunction with the City of Calgary's Park n Play day camps. Tummy Tamers provides hot lunch and nutritious snacks and a short interactive lesson on nutrition and health. (Program runs July and August)
Souper Stars Program - A series of 10, 70 minute classes, one per week delivered to 30 different classrooms per year. Focusing of children grades 4 - 6 the program covers; personal hygiene, basic nutrition, kitchen and food safety, grocery shopping, etiquette, and basic food preparation. (Program runs September to May)
Spinz-A-Round Program - Spinz-A-Round rescues food collected from local merchants that may have otherwise been discarded. Agencies from around Calgary pick up the food and deliver it to individuals and families in need around the city.
Disaster Response - Community Kitchen Program of Calgary is contacted if there is a disaster involving 100 people or more.We create the meals for response staff as well as meals for evacuees. This program relies on donations and all staff members of CKP are called on to donate thier time.
Food n More - Through the process of bulk buying and warehousing food, Food n More enables agencies to take advantage of significant price discounts. The end result can cut the cost of buying food up to 20%! (Runs year round)
Seniors Plus Program - Bringing the benefits of three of CKP's programs to Seniors and Seniors Centres promoting good nutrition, time and, money savings. (Program start up in September 2015)
Welcome Home Hampers - Welcome Home Hampers are designed to help those coming out of transitional housing or homelessness. Agencies apply for the hampers as the clients leave their care. The hampers will set up the family with cleaning supplies, household essentials, food both non perishable and fresh to last an entire month. (Runs year round)
